Bjørn Tore Nystrand

Bjørn Tore Nystrand is a researcher at Møreforsking Ålesund and PhD fellow in marketing at the School of Business and Economics, UiT The Arctic University of Norway (2017-2020).  
Nystrand is currently occupied with a PhD fellowship in marketing, focusing on food choice and consumer behavior related to foods with added health benefits originating from marine ingredients. Preliminary thesis title is Consumer Attitudes and Behavior towards Functional Foods with Marine Nutraceuticals. Research interests beside consumer marketing and consumer behavior include international seafood trade, product development and industrial marketing (B2B). Core competencies include multivariate data analysis, quantitative research methods and structural equation modelling (SEM).  
Nystrand has been a researcher at Møreforsking since 2009. He graduated with a master’s degree in marine business management from the Norwegian College of Fishery Science, UiT The Arctic University of Norway (2008). The master’s thesis dealt with young consumers’ attitudes and expectations toward novel fish products. Nystrand has been involved in a vast number of projects covering several research fields, from optimization in the production of salted (and dried) fish, product and market development of conventional fish products, via gender and educational research to consumer behavior and marketing related to the food domain.
