Through over 30 years of business, Møreforsking has built solid expertise on designing and conducting projects within varying time- and budget-frames. The institute has 55 employees, whom conduct research, development, counseling and knowledge development.

WORK FIELD

Gyda Christophersen

Gyda Christophersen was employed by Møreforsking Ålesund in August 2016. She contributes to research on shellfish, new species in aquaculture, live seafood and other aquaculture related topics, including multitrophic aquaculture. Her present work is to develop sea cucumber aquaculture, focusing on reproduction and early life stages. She functions as project manager of regional, national and international projects. 
 
Gyda Christophersen was awarded her doctor’s degree (dr. scient.) at the University of Bergen, Department of Biology, Norway, in 2005 when she defended her thesis "Effects of environmental conditions on culturing scallop spat (Pecten maximus)". She completed her master’s degree (cand. scient.) in general aquaculture at the Department of Fisheries and Marine Biology, University of Bergen, Norway, in 1994. Gyda also graduated as food technologist from the Norwegian State College of Food Technology in Trondheim, Norway in 1984. 
 
Gyda Christophersen has extensive knowledge on bivalve aquaculture, and broad experience from health inspection, food production and laboratory work and from stays abroad in Ireland, Portugal and Canada. In her former employments at Teknologisk Institutt in Oslo and at the University of Bergen she has functioned as project leader and coordinator in several EU projects targeting small and medium sized enterprises.
